What Is An Oak Framed Garage

Oak has been used to build barns for centuries, Chart oak framed garages take this age-old tradition and create a barn style garage. Our oak framed garages are a carefully considered balance of beauty, tradition, strength and sustainability.

A Chart oak framed garage uses sawn oak posts, headers and bracing for the exposed elements of the garage on the front entrance of the building married to sustainable FSC/PEFC pressure treated timber on covered areas.

Exposed oak and the traditional barn-style look of our garages come together to create a traditional and sustainable oak framed garage that is built to last for decades. Each bay of an oak framed garage can be adapted to your specific use from parking to enclosed store, office or gym.

Why choose an oak framed garage ?

Oak is a strong wood that requires no treatment or processing, the timber we used is felled in the UK and Europe and apart from being cut to size is as nature made it. An incredibly dense and hardy timber it is perfect for holding up buildings and survives well exposed to the elements. It takes many years for oak to grow and for this reason we balance the use of oak where we need it with faster growing species. You can read more about the sustainability of building with timber here.

Whether you are looking for a single garage, double, triple or even more parking bays, the same traditional style of garage will stand timelessly in your driveway built to last decades.

An oak fronted garage offers more than just space to park a car, the design with individual bays, means you can choose to enclose all or some of the space to create rooms that can be used for a home office, workshop, studio space or even a children’s games room. You can add double doors, single door and window or multiple windows with ease. Every Chart Garages building is made from timber and tailor made for you.

You can personalise the look and style of your garage even further by selecting from either pressure treated shiplap cladding or weatherboard. Roof coverings available include Onduvila (standard), cedar shingles, Tapco tiles (synthetic slate) or prepared for  natural slate or clay tiles . (For natural  tiled roof options we construct the building ready for your own contractor to undertake the tiling.)

Oak framed garage sizes start from 5.4m x 3.0m  (18' x 10' ft) for a single bay and we can add near unlimited extra bays thanks to the extra strong construction method with each bay up to 3.6m (12'ft) wide and up to 7.3m (24') deep.

Our experienced team can help with the design, provide both base plans and elevated drawings needed for planning and we will deliver and install nationwide.
