Wall Construction

Walls are built with 75mm x 50mm (3” x 2”) timber framing, spaced at 600mm (2’) centres, diagonally braced at corner sections, where necessary.

Wall Cladding

Selected high-quality Shiplap 16mm x 150mm (⅝” x 6”), pressure treated to ensure a long maintenance-free life.  All boarding is fixed with rust resisting nails. Weatherboard is available as an option.

Wall Lining

A traditional wall eco-breather membrane made to meet the requirements of BS 4016 Type 2 is placed between the studwork and exterior cladding in all panels and doors. Various wall linings and insulation are available on request.

Roof Construction

Purlins are 100mm x 50mm (4” x 2”) held in place by joist holders on prefabricated trusses, boarded with 11mm OS Board and black Onduline roof sheeting.  Coloured Onduline, 38kg green mineral felt, Onduvilla tiles or felt tiles are available as an alternative.

Doors

A single 838mm (2’ 9”) wide x 1980mm (6’ 6”) high framed, ledged and braced door faced with Shiplap and lined with an eco-breather membrane between the framing and exterior cladding. Doors are hung in a separate frame which includes a 450mm (18″) adjustable hook and band hinges and five lever morticed door lock. Larger single or double doors are available. 

Windows

One 980mm x 662mm (39” x 26”) single glazed window (1 x opening, 1 x fixed pane) or 1 x clear roof sheet is included in buildings up to and including 3.6m (12’) in length. Two windows are fitted as standard in longer Workshops. Alternative single glazed or double glazed windows are available.

Height

To eaves 2235mm (7’ 4”) when on a single course of brickwork.  Apex heights will vary depending upon the width of the building, please enquire.

Guttering

Black 100mm (4”) half-round guttering and downpipes are fitted to both sides of the building.

Barge Boards

All in pressure treated, prepared timber, fixed with rust-resisting nails. No overhangs to gable ends.

Flooring

Floors are constructed using 75mm x 50mm (3” x 2”) framing, spaced at 300mm (12”) centres and covered with 18mm OS Board.

Timber Treatment

All timber is pressure treated (excluding roof purlins), adding to the longevity of your building.

Purlins are 125mm x 50mm (5” x 2”) held in place by joist holders on prefabricated trusses, boarded with 18mm OS Board and covered with Onduvilla tiles, (available in brown, red or black/ grey). Options include Onduline, 38kg Green mineral felt or felt tiles.

Doors

As standard your Workshop will include a single 915mm x 1981mm (3’ x 6’ 6”) personal door, morticed, ledged and braced frame, rebated and infilled with T.G.V and lined with an eco-breather membrane between the framing and exterior cladding and fitted with a five levered morticed door lock. This door is hung in a pressure treated door frame with cill on butt hinges. Inward or outward opening doors in a variety of sizes are available.   

Windows
