DIY Garages

Thursday, 6 August 2015

For customers who want to save money, or who simply like the challenge, we offer a self-assembly option for all our wooden garage designs.

The self-build garage design and consultation process works in exactly the same way as our turn-key building services, but at the end of it you are provided with the raw materials and plans to build a wooden garage by yourself.

All self build wooden garages we supply are suitable for agricultural, commercial and private use.

The self-build wooden garage service works as follows:

1. Design your wooden garage

Choose from a number of existing dimensions, or work with our team to design your ideal custom wooden garage. Choose a traditional single or double garage model, or incorporate additional features like an open bay carriage house/car port or sectional workshop. During the design process make sure to request your value adding features like up-and-over style garage doors, preferred exterior cladding (Shiplap, Weatherboard, Loglap) or upgraded roofing materials (Slate, Clay, Tapco or Cedar Shingles).

2. Submit for modular construction

Once you are happy with your design, our workshop team will get to work building the individual components of your garage. All the sectional panels of the wooden garage are pre-clad for you, meaning they’re ready to bolt down onto your brickwork on delivery. Apex’s have the joist holders fitted and are ready to be placed on the end gable walls. Garage doors are fitted with all the necessary ironmongery and all roof purlins, fascias and finishing strips are cut to size and ready for fitting. Our workshop team are expert craftsmen and construct all DIY kits to exacting standards.

3. Come and collect

Once you are ready to receive your self build wooden garage, your building will be ready for collection from our manufacturing Workshop here in Ashford, Kent.  Alternatively we can organise transportation of your building to your site, in most cases. The prefabricated components will be accompanied with detailed instructions, but we will offer advice and support if required.

Self-assembling a flat-packed wooden garage can be a rewarding and cost effective experience (DIY costs typically 15% cheaper than Chart erection option). However, please consider the time and effort needed to erect a prefab wooden garage.

If you are unsure about the demands needed, or would like more information, please call our sales team now on 0800 085 2937 for some free, no-obligation advice.
