The Chart Range

Wall Construction

Walls are built with 100mm x 50mm (4” x 2”) timber framing, spaced at 600mm (2’) centres, diagonally braced at corner sections, where necessary.

Wall Cladding

Selected high-quality Shiplap 16mm x 150mm (⅝” x 6”), pressure treated to ensure a long maintenance-free life.  Weatherboard and Loglap are available as options.  All boarding is fixed with rust resisting nails.

Wall Lining

A traditional eco-breather membrane to meet the requirements of BS 4016 Type 2 is placed between the studwork and exterior cladding in all wall panels. Various internal wall linings and insulation are available on request.

Roof Construction

Purlins are 125mm x 50mm (5” x 2”) held in place by joist holders on prefabricated trusses, covered with 11mm OS Board and black Onduline roof sheeting or 38kg green mineral felt. Options include coloured Onduline, Onduvilla tiles or felt tiles.

Entrances

Entrance ways to Carriage Houses have 150mm x 150mm (6” x 6”) pressure treated support posts, framing and 457mm (18”) curved bracing.  Doors can be fitted as optional extras.

Doors

Are not included as standard. A wide range of double doors and personal doors are available on request.

Windows

Are not included as standard. An extensive range of single or double glazed windows is available.

Height

To eaves, 2464mm (8’ 1”) when on a single course of brickwork.  Carriage Houses are also available with an eaves height of 2743mm (9’) as an option.  Apex heights will vary depending upon the width of the building, please enquire.

Guttering

Black 100mm (4”) half-round guttering and downpipes are fitted to the front and rear.

Barge Boards

All in pressure treated, prepared timber, fixed with rust-resisting nails.  Your Carriage House will include a 100mm overhang, underlined, to each gable end.

Timber Treatment

All timber is pressure treated (excluding roof purlins), adding to the longevity of your building.


The Chester Range

Wall Construction

A traditional eco-breather membrane to meet the requirements of BS 4016 Type 2 is placed between the studwork and exterior cladding in all wall panels. Various internal wall linings and insulation are available on request.

Roof Construction

Roofs are of a trussed rafter design and manufactured to BS5268 Part 2 2002, Part 3 2006, BS6399 Part 1 1996 and Part 2 1997.  As standard, the roof pitch is 22.5 degrees, then boarded with 18mm OS Board and covered with Onduvilla tiles. Gable end roofs or hipped roofs are available.  Options include Onduline or felt tiles or the pitch of the trusses can be increased up to 35º to accommodate slate or clay tiles.

Soffits and Fascias

Are fitted as standard and soffits and fascias are 150mm x 25mm (6″ x 1″) and pressure treated.

Entrances

Entrance ways to Carriage Houses are constructed using 150mm x 150mm (6” x 6”) Oak with 610mm (24”) curved bracing. Centre support posts are placed on a 150mm (6″) staddle stone.
